Our trip to Scandinavia was perfectly imperfect. Definitely one of our best adventures. We bundled up, we walked, we ate, we laughed, we explored, we had epiphanies and deep discussions, we took photos, we ate more, we got lost, we took the wrong train, we took the wrong bus, we discovered new things to love. And, we did not write one single word in the journal I so carefully remembered to pack. This was the fist time we went on a big trip and did not take turns writing in the journal. There was just no time and I firmly believe in participating in the adventure while the adventure is happening. We embraced technology and took notes on our phones and used instagram to keep track of the memories so that I can make a journal/scrapbook now that we are home. I fear forgetting all the little things I told myself I would remember, so I better get on that sooner than later.
It was also fun to see which things (the puffy coat, the shoes, the backpack, the cheap hotels!) we got before the trip worked and which did not. It was fun to experience the snow and cold temps and test out all the "stay warm" advice people gave me. I will do some blog posts about this hits and misses, memories, and lessons learned in the the next few days. I have a few journaly projects I want to do with all the ephemera I gathered on the trip.
