It seems like it is cold and wet from west to east today! Or east to west, depening on which way you look at it. I was going to do some research into our trip today but the travel sites are slow and everything is farkakte so I figured I would just take a good look at the map and see what is where. Our trick to seeing the world on a budget is to go where it is cheap during a particular season. Find the cheap tickets then build a trip around that one place. We are building our adventure around Copenhagen. We have been to Norway before and it was the most beautiful thing my eyes have seen and the coldest my body has been. I have a vivid memory of me and Karen at a bus stop clinging to each other for warmth and even wrapping a pair of leggings around our necks because we had no scarves. Leggings work really well as scarves! On one hand, since Karen's teenage son will be with us, I want that kind of adventure that is perfectly imperfect so he learns about life and how to roll with things. On the other hand, at 45 and 50, we lean more toward comfort. Also, we want good food. My memory of Scandinavia is that the food was just ok unless you like fish. And, we got burned out on Viking history pretty fast.
So, where to go? Do you have any Scandinavia suggestions? Or places easy to get to from Copenhagen? Stockholm, Berlin, Helsinki?
*I love songs with city titles. Today on repeat is Stockholm. Crossed the ocean, thousand years from my home, in this frozen old city of silver and stone...
