On Monday I am going for my annual mammogram. I would normally not schedule such an important test during Mercury In Retrograde, but I think putting off a mammogram when you are high risk is just asking for trouble. I am now the age my sister was when she had breast cancer. It was not that long ago and I was just thinking about how my mom and my sister had cancer and my husband needed a bionic shoulder all at the same time! Dustin and Karen had surgery on the same day. If ever I wanted a clone of myself, it was that day. Obviously there is nothing funny about the people you love having cancer and major shoulder injuries, but it's funny thinking back on how so much bad stuff happened at the same time. If it were a movie, we'd be screaming at the tv there's no way that could happen. Yet, a few years later, I never think about it! When the mammogram place was taking my history for the millionth time, I remembered that I had forgotten that particular year of hell.
I hope forgetting the bad stuff pretty soon after it happens is one of the major benefits of aging.
Speaking of mammogram appointments, they have called me and sent me actual mail reminders of my appointment about 50 times. It's annoying how doctors love to remind patients about appointments to the point of annoyance, but as soon as you need a prescription refilled or have a question about that weird pain that is either a heart attack or a pulled muscle, they go into witness protection and you are out of luck.
