The last minute on a budget gift guide

I confess that I have not yet bought or made one gift for anyone over the age of ten this holiday season- yet. I also only managed to send cards to people who were on the first few pages of my address book. Sorry, people G through Z. Life was just so busy and chaotic this month that I was working non-stop and before I knew it, Hanukkah and Christmas suddenly landed in my lap. I am failing this holiday season in the time management department.  If you are like me, here are few things that would be on my gift giving list if I would just hurry it up. I may have said a few of these items last year as well but who can remember that long ago? I will link to things on amazon to show you, but you might find them in stores locally, too:

 

1. A longer phone charging cord. This gift is inexpensive and essential for anyone with an iphone. It's especially necessary if that person ever travels because outlets in hotels are never where you need them. These longer cords have been a blessing in our lives. I am sure they make them for other phones as well.

2. Music: My favorite CDs of the year have been Bob Seger, Jason Isbell, LP, Willie Nelson, Helen Reddy (still good!), Jann Arden, Taylor Swift (I love this cd! Seriously.). Or make a mix tape of your favorite songs on a flash drive for your loved one. I am doing this for my seester because I know she has no time to find good music. Just drag and drop the songs to the flashdrive while you sit on hold with Time Warner.
3. Books: Uh, I haven't read any this year (but both our brothers wrote wonderful books!) . Magazine subscriptions are fun! There are many good ones for $5. Five dollars for a gift that lasts all year is pretty good.

4. For the artist or DIY-er : Painter's Pyramids. A necessity for anyone who does anything with paint.
5. For the very busy person: An Amazon Prime account. I have no idea how I would survive life without Amazon Prime. If you have a kid about to leave home for college far away, get this for yourself. You will be amazed how many things your kid needs right away. I am about to use it right now for my gift shopping.

 

Food (full of sugar, gluten, pork) by Overnight Mail:

1. Salted Caramels from Fran's Chocolates. There are no better caramels.

2. Crumb Cake and bakery items (OMG the cannoli!) from Carlo's Bakery. East coast crumb cake is different than anything West coasters are used to. They offer two kinds, both are out of this world.

3. Pulled Pork and/or Ribs from 17th Street BBQ. The best pulled pork we have ever had.
4. Absolutely delish cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake. Their gift wrap is really cute, too.
