I haven't read a book in its entirety since Ambien was invented. People like to blame Amazon for the decline in book sales over the years but I think it is Ambien they should blame. I buy books I want to read, then I pop an Ambien and get in bed with my new book and the kindle app. The next morning I wake up with my iPad wedged between me and my husband, the kindle app open. 2Hrs and 38min remain in the book I thought was great last night but that I do not remember now. I have been reading Awakening Snakes for two years. I am always pleasantly surprised by how well written it is and I can't wait to read more and then I am asleep. That is not Amazon's fault. I used to read a lot because I could not sleep and now I sleep a lot but don't get to read.
Both of our brothers have books coming out this week. Lee's new publishing company Brash Books has a slew of mysteries coming out. Tod's new novel, Gangsterland, has been getting great reviews already. We could not be more proud of our brothers! And yet, I fear telling people about their books because I know the follow-up question will be if I have read their books. Of course, those questions will come from Lee and Tod themselves, but still. I highly recommend their books based on books read Before Ambien. They are both amazing writers.
Hold off on those refills and read a book!
