The other day I went to Ikea to get some curtains so I could finish decorating my house in the colors of Vienna. Oh, Viennnnnna! Getting from Ikea to my car alone with 30 pounds of fabric in 90 degrees was similar to how it felt actually getting to Vienna by train. Why can't they ever put an Ikea in a place where you can push your cart to your car? If they can do it at Target and Home Depot, why can't Ikea do it? It makes NO sense. Why would we want to shlep back and forth to our car without a cart?
One of my best memories of Vienna is walking in the gardens at Belvedere Palace. I just love sound the gravel path makes under your feet with each step you take. I love it so much that I recorded it as we walked. I need to play it in surround sound while I walk on the treadmill. I wonder if it would be overkill to have a giant sphinx statue in my garden. Normally, half animal- half human figures freak me the hell out, but this baroque one looks pretty. I always thought of a sphinx as an Egypty cat. According to the Belvedere website, they are "symbols of power and strength paired with human insight." That sounds like a good symbol to have around!
