I took thousands of photos on our trip. At least 1500 on my iPhone, which ended up being much more convenient to use on rainy days or when I wanted to be less obvious. Not that I am ever not obvious. I don't really care if people see me taking photos and only once during this trip were we ever told not to take a photo and that was at a Judaica store in the Ghetto in Venice. Our own people, no less! Hmph! We weren't even in the store, I was just taking a photo of the building, but whatever.
I took a lot of photos of strangers or atmosphere for the sake of our memories. This couple next to us at breakfast one morning kept glancing over at us like we were nuts as we took photos of our chocolate filled breakfast croissants. They were really good croissants. It was a gorgeous morning and we were lingering and enjoying the sun. As soon as the couple finished their breakast, they immediately started chain smoking. And like we'd rehearsed it (but we hadn't), without words, Karen, Emily and I all quickly got up and bolted away from the table. It was the first time I heard the couple laugh at breakfast.
Isn't it funny what people find unusual?
*I spotted lots of tourists taking photos of their food.
