I love texting and I love twitter. Both have replaced email for me because they are fast! You just say what you want really fast and keep on doing what you are doing, which is usually 3 things at once.When life is hectic, the ability to be quick about communicating is important. We have to save time for the important things like actually communicating over a cup of hot chocolate a cookie. Working out the details of when and were to meet for that cookie is very easy with texting or twitter. Want to meet for chocolate? Yes! Ok, see you in ten at Sbux. That took two seconds.
The thing I like best about twitter is the 140 character limit. You must get to the point fast and nobody gets offended because you all have the same amount of space. Everyone seems able to figure out what you are saying even when you leave out vowels, punctuation and abbreviate words.
We've been going back and forth to the middle of nowhere to pack up my mother-in-law's house and there's really bad cell reception/wi-fi there. It's almost non-existent on the 2.5 hour car ride. So, I have been responding to emails the same way I tweet and text~ in as few words as possible to make the most of my time, space, and internet connection. Man oh man! It turns out that people who have no problem understanding tweets and texts totally can not read a short email without deciding a whole bunch of stuff was said that wasn't. Do words have different meaning when the text box is larger? Being direct in email now seems to have the opposite effect.
