Compasssion or Annoyance Round #2
Karen has a TV Guy. She also has a Computer Guy and a Picture Hanging Guy. That right there is funny to me. When she wants to hang a photo on her wall, she calls someone. It's not that she can't hang a photo, she just knows she isn't safe around nails, hammers, and glass. And, she's married to an accountant. A lawyer and an accountant. You get the picture. They have other skills.
Her TV Guy had been unable to fix a problem for like 2 months, he was AWOL. Was she being disrepected, yo, by her TV Guy? Was he being unprofessional and rude to a loyal customer? Was this a time to be hating and finding a new Guy or acting on some compassion? She nicely wrote and asked what was up. Karen's always nice unless you forward her an urban legend email. You'd never know she is a fierce trial attorney!
TV guy responded, apologizing. His wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have surgery and he was freaking out. He said he would get back to her when he could.
So Karen and her family cursed at their TV, waited for their TV guy and gave him some space (instead of rushing to find a new Guy). And then this email came:
Sorry about neglecting you. Been distracted by my wife’s cancer. All is going well – she is still in bed after over 5 weeks, but doing as well as possible. I can come by over the weekend and check the WiFi adapter.
Compassion wins this round. Sometimes the problem really is cancer!
