We are back from Walla Walla and our mother's funeral. We had not spent 4 consecuetive days (of breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with our brothers in a very long time and it was during this last week that we learned both of our brothers- like me and Karen- are hot tea drinkers. I had no idea! I'd totally lose the imaginary huge prize on the fake game show where you guess what hot drink your brothers like at night with that one. I was shocked every time they ordered it.
We had a four hour layover in Seattle between flights on our way back from Walla Walla. There was a Borders in the airport and I was happy to find the new issue of Somerset Studio magazine there. On pages 82-84 is an interview with me about my daily ritual of drinking tea and journaling with the napkin my tea cup sits on. The tea napkin journals are some of my favorite journal pages and ones I often look at.
Over the weekend, I discovered Earl Grey chocolates at Bright's in Walla Walla. They were a daily ritual there and it was far too cold for any chocolate to melt on my nakins. And really, they were so darn good that I would've licked the napkins had that happened! I took many photos on our trip and wrote many notes so that I could reflect with a cup of tea when I finally got home and things were quiet.
We still have many things to sort out and I suspect there will be a few more family meals of only chocolate entrees and tea before the quiet comes.
