Longing, page 48 of Journal Revolution.
Our bags are almost packed and we are almost ready to make our way to San Francisco tomorrow. Impromptu book signing people, I am sorry that I just can't swing it this trip. We have too many obligations in our few short days and I would feel horrible if I were rushed and didn't have time to actually talk with each person. The good news is that Karen and I will be back in No Cal very soon and then you can meet both of us!
It's really weird to go back to a place where you grew up but the time away from it is longer than the time you were there. Going to San Francisco is going home, even when my siblings will not be there, and that is the sad part. Speaking of siblings, our dearest younger brother, Tod, has some good news of his own on the book front. We're so proud!
The happy part of this trip is that for a few hours we get to hang out with two of my favorite people, Lain and Maria, and there's even going to be a little photo shoot! I love Maria's photography and am so lucky to be in front of her camera, especially in a city that means so much to me. I swear to Buddha, if I get a pimple between now and then I will just die!
Many people wait until Thanksgiving to think of what they are thankful for. We live and eat like it is Thanksgiving every day. Some things we are thankful for today:
*Unexpected migraine relief from friends who don't even owe me anything!
*Friends who always laugh at my jokes even when I say them at the wrong times
*Getting to create, laugh and kvetch with my SEESTER
*Leaves changing colors outside my window
*Pumpkin Spice cream cheese spread
*Being able to say no without feeling guilty
*I still have MY sunglasses
*LOVE from many of our heroes. We feel it!
*Nana's handmade cookbook she gave to each of her grandchildren
*Being able to see and help our friends get their words or art published when they didn't think it possible. Anything is possible!
*Is it possible anyone knows where to get a WII for not more than $75 over list price? Karen needs one.
Happy Thanksgiving, Friends! What are you thankful for? Or, what are you eating for Thanksgiving?!!!
I'm taking the laptop and my Flip camera to SF. I might blog from there if something happens. Well, something always happens.
UPDATE: It was possible! Someone hooked Karen up with a WII!!! There will be one very happy boy on Hanukkah.
