Ok, so...yeah. We are at the Omega Institute teaching our journaling workshop and it is BEAUTIFUL here. Absolutely beautiful. And buggy. And Vegan. And we aren't. Mindful, we are. We're also really tired because apparently vegan food makes you really tired. What is the deal with that? It's not just Vegan- it is unusual vegan. Kale for breakfast and spelt everything. We don't even like tomatoes but we're craving some now. They even serve a bread called "flatulence bread." We're staying far from it and the people eating it. Thank Buddha we stopped at Target and got some chocolate to bring with us. And toilet paper. But, we forgot Raid and are having a hard time not constantly checking every spot on the walls and carpet. We just aren't nature girls when nature doesn't stay outside. Some things we're mindful of here:
*Really, really, really spotty internet connections
*People at the Chicago airport are really tall and still wear cuffed capri pants.
*Don't bother packing your drum if you are coming to Omega. Everyone has one and is happy to share.
*Ten people here have Lyme Disease. Enough said.
*The *special* meal of the day at the Omega Cafe is Sauteed carrots with bio-dynamic rice. We had the only edible thing we could find: sweet potato fries. Though, the students here all seem to really like the food so maybe it is really delish if you are vegan.
*There is a surprising amount of MEN here.
*We have a wonderful group of lovely people in our class who are so enthusiastic, funny, and fun and that makes the tofu snacks totally worth it! Karen brought cake with her- we will survive.
*We happened upon an EDDIE BAUER OUTLET in the middle of nowhere!
*Our first night in Albany was in a flophouse and it is looking damn good right now. Tv and a shower big enough to shave your legs in sounds like a treat.
We off to make our way back to our cabin while it is still light enough to see the bunnies, gophers, and groundhogs on the path. The grounds here are very peaceful and green. There are blooming flowers and Buddhas...and trapeze artists. It's a trip, man! We're BLISSING OUT!
