This year for our birthdays we pretty much did nothing. Nothing is what we always want to do for our birthdays. It's hard for people who are still young and who think that doing something makes you seem cool to get that feeling. That is the best thing about getting older~ you really do stop caring about stuff that doesn't make you really happy. Or at least full. Not doing anything doesn't mean we aren't celebrating life. It just means we don't have to get dressed up for it. Last week, Karen was sick and this week I am. We can't ever seem to shake the goopy sinus thing that happens on a windy day in Southern California. Tell me, people, is constantly having a sinus infection something that happens to women as soon as they turn 38? We get hairier and stuffed up all the time? This can't be right.
So yesterday we worked on our travel plans for BOOK TOUR 07 (say that in your best weather-caster voice) and we discussed the lip gloss from the new Boots section of Target (Boots is our fave store in England) and I spent way too much time trying to figure out why none of my credit cards come with any type of reward points and I looked at every shade of yellow house paint that exists . There are some of you who think we can't have a red front door if we paint our house yellow, but I say YOU ARE WRONG! What could be cuter than a yellow house with white trim and a red front door? Well, ok, a cool lavender house would be FAB, too!
And after all that planning and discussing, all that was solidified is that we will be in NEW YORK in June and will post details about that as soon as we plan a little more. Though something odd is starting to happen. All day yesterday as we discussed and planned, birthday gifts arrived and they were all BLUE. Bracelets, necklaces, tea cups, art... all in shades of blue. Beautiful, lovely gifts in a color I didn't know people associated with me (but that I love). I don't think I ever wear blue. We thought for sure that must be a fluke. Then my husband came home with a big beautiful bouquet of purple and BLUE flowers (and mint chip ice cream which is green and yummy). When did I go from being red to blue? Hmmmm.
