Ever since we all moved out of mom's house, she has said she hates eating alone. It has been 18 years, and she still hates it. Eating alone was, and still, is a big deal to our Nana after our grandfather died. I just don't get it. Every married friend I have gets so excited at the idea of eating alone. We wait for our husbands and/or kids to leave so we can cook what we want, exactly as we want it. We can read Real Simple magazine with our cheese and crackers. We can watch Oprah after the Show with our big bowl of popcorn. We can put as much cilantro on our salads as we want! We can eat without interruption! Nobody is whining or asking for anything! What is not to like about that? I am the envy of my married friends~my husband is rarely home for dinner. I get to eat dinner alone every week day!
I wonder why so many 30-40 year old women love it and 60+ year old women hate or fear it.
