If you have an online shop, the sound of silence can be deafening as summer approaches. Kids are out of school, people are going on vacations, and the weather is lovely- all reasons your buyers are not shopping or even online as much. Summer is exactly when that "get active in your community" topic I mentioned previously is important. When your customers are out and about in the real world, that is when you should be as well. When the summer slow down arrives, it is the best time to keep in stock your best sellers and "summery" items and not debut new works if you are expecting a big response. Don't set yourself up for validation from an audience that is busy telling their kids in the back seat to put their phones down and enjoy the scenery. Now is not the time to be doing huge online promotions. Now is the time to be at the summer art fairs and shows where people are going to buy art. Summer is also the time when people change their online habits. More people are online at night than in the day. Think about when and how you are online when the kids are home, you are traveling, or company is in town. Night time is the new day time in summer. Everyone is distracted in summer unless they are looking for specific summer things: graduation gifts, father's day gifts, dorm room decor, wedding gifts. Make it easy for your customers to find those items in your shop while everyone is talking to them and asking what is for lunch.
